Insight

When Craftwood Interiors were approached by duBoulay Contracts and asked if they would be interested in manufacturing bespoke banquettes for Anthony Demetre & Will Smith’s new restaurant Les Deux Salons, we jumped at the chance!

The stunning 150 cover French style Brasserie was designed by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio (MBDS), and Craftwood worked closely with them to realise their banquette designs. MBDS, duBoulay and Craftwood have worked together on many projects previously, and the strong working relationship between the three parties certainly helped on what was a very challenging project. It meant that duBoulay could feel confident in leaving Craftwood to develop the banquettes with MBDS and leave them to concentrate on the 16 week fit-out with one less element to worry about.

The Solution

With such a large project, cost was a key factor and Craftwood Interior’s challenge was to manufacture the bespoke banquettes as closely as possible to the original design whilst keeping a careful eye on costs to ensure that duBoulay could bring the project in on budget.

Almost one hundred metres of banquettes were used over the 2 floors in a variety of configurations. The ground floor seating was upholstered in a dark green leather, with a horizontal top stitch detail added making a very attractive additional design detail. The seating incorporates a divided front border to give the appearance of a separate seat cushion. To finish off the banquettes, a solid oak bull nose rail was applied to the bottom of the seat border.

Upstairs the second salon has a more intimate feel and the seating here is upholstered in a deep red mohair with a single row of float buttons to the backs; finished off with a custom dye bullion fringe to the bottom of the banquettes. As well as a series of U shaped booths to the perimeter, there is a central island feature made up of 3 semi-circular booths creating a trefoil.

The Results

Craftwood Interiors are delighted to have been involved in this prestigious project, and continue to work with both duBoulay Contracts and Martin Brudnizki Design Studio on other exciting projects. Neil Masters of MBDS commented “The team at Craftwood did a fantastic job at Les Deux Salons – completing the installation to a tight schedule. They always deliver a good product and I’m sure we’ll be working with them again”.
