Patara, Berners Street
Commissioned by: Fileturn
With over 25 years of providing the nation’s capital with its unique Thai dining experience, for its latest venture Patara chose to showcase a bold new look for its new restaurant in Berners Street, complementing the new dishes that would be featuring on its menu alongside established classics.
Well respected design studio Superfutures took inspiration from traditional Thai architectural motifs in designing the interiors.
The ground floor, comprising bar and both open and private dining areas, was to have a bold look while the lower basement area was conceived with a softer atmosphere in mind. The whole reflecting Patara’s ethos of blending Thai traditions in cuisine with modern presentation.
The designer’s inspiration for the interior was expertly realised by main contractor Fileturn while Craftwoods ‘Love Seats’ in a plush blue fabric bring an elegant and distinctive look to the ground floor bar area.
Craftwood’s booth seating with stylish Iroko veneered end panels complement Superfutures’ interiors, which blend Thai tradition and modern features. The same style panels contrasting beautifully also on the love seats.
The basement area has a very different look. Here Superfutures’ designers specified Craftwood’s banquette seating using curved ends that both optimise dining space and go to creating the atmosphere desired by Patara and appreciated by diners.
Superfutures certainly succeeded in fulfilling Patara’s wishes for its new showcase restaurant as the above view ably demonstrates. As for customers, judging by reviews the new look surroundings are certainly a hit, highlighting just how much a dining experience is enhanced by having the right interior – and seating!
