Location: Hawksmoor, Knightsbridge
Commissioned by: Hawksmoor
Hawksmoor owners Huw Gott and Will Beckett commissioned Macaulay Sinclair to design their fifth London restaurant also making this the fifth collaboration for Macaulay Sinclair, duBoulay Contracts and Craftwood.
The area of Knightsbridge is renowned for its exclusivity and is amongst some of London’s most famous restaurants, chic bars and clubs. The restaurant itself demonstrates a very glamorous and Art-Deco appearance with a rich colour pallet and bold shapes. Both duBoulay Contracts and Macaulay Sinclair approached Craftwood to manufacture and install the banquettes and bespoke sofa seating. The venue itself consists of two main spaces including both a restaurant and a separate bar area.
The main restaurant is cleverly divided up into three main areas.
On one side of the vast room is a bank of 4 large booths with head-rolls, giving a sense of privacy for larger parties sharing a great meal together.
In the centre of the room is a 12 metre long back to back run of sleek seating. They have been divided into 4 sections with beautiful marble clad end screens and dividing walls which were provided by duBoulay. The marble works beautifully, complementing the glossy gun metal grey leather selected for the dining banquettes.
On the other side of the room, bespoke timber framed sofa seating units create free-standing booths each seating up to 4 diners. The profile detail to the top of the backs adds an extra touch of elegance to this simple design.
Finally, moving into the bar, a rich yellow leather was used to upholster both the seating and chairs. Set against a richly stained timber clad wall creating a warm, cosy and more intimate feel to the area maintaining the relaxed ambience of the entire venue.
Utilising Craftwoods’ sprung base seating, the venue provides an extremely comfortable, welcoming environment in which to enjoy the mouth-watering menu that The Hawksmoor has to offer! It is always a pleasure to work with the Hawksmoor team and we are looking forward to collaborating with them again on their next project in Deansgate, Manchester.
Mike Sinclair, of Macaulay Sinclair, commented:
“Craftwood continue to hit the mark in providing exceptionally well made contract furniture for our restaurants that respond to our challenging brief and programme needs. We have an excellent working relationship that continues to prosper.”
