Supplying bespoke banquette seating to Jamie Oliver’s restaurant group Jamie’s Italian, Craftwood Interiors recently completed installing at another new site, Jamie’s Italian Glasgow...... the first in Scotland. The largest in the group so far, a stunning 280 seat restaurant in the old GPO building, George Square, has been created.
Designed by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio (MBDS) and working with main contractor Tekne Shopfitting, Craftwood Interiors were commissioned to realise the banquette designs proposed by MBDS for the project. As with all Jamie’s Italian restaurants that Craftwood have completed to date, we installed our sprung base seating ensuring that the guests dining experience is further enhanced.
Justin Hardy, Jamie Oliver Group Project Development Manager, commented “ Working with Craftwood on Jamie’s Italian ensures we receive a professional concise service. From the initial quotation right through to final site installation, the whole process runs smoothly. Quality after sales service and durability are also assured from Craftwood. “

Over 100 linear metres of seating was supplied in various configurations across 2 floors. A striking feature on the ground floor was created by 2 H-shaped banquettes in custom dyed pink leather by Andrew Muirhead. Craftwood also supplied the solid oak cappings and feature end panel surrounds required, working closely with Tekne to make sure that the reclaimed oak panelling being fitted to the end panels fitted correctly. Also on the ground floor, Craftwood installed booth seating in brown pull-up leather. Again, solid oak cappings and wall panel frames at the end of the booths were supplied. The oak is finished with linseed oil to achieve the natural and slightly rustic look that is a feature in many of Jamie’s Italian restaurants.

Moving downstairs to the basement area, there are three distinct areas of seating....two in a deep blue colour which works well with the floor finish in the area. As with all of the other seating at Jamie’s Glasgow, a feature stitching detail is used on the backs which not only adds that extra distinctive touch to the finished look but also helps to visually divide the fairly long runs of seating. Leather piping follows the perimeter of the seating giving a softer junction between the leather and the solid oak show-wood detailing. |
Finally we arrive at the magnificent “vault area” in the basement whereMartin Brudnizki Design Studio specified five large U-booths be created in the existing alcoves. As you can see below, the areas had a glass roof added to bring in light, with the existing iron railings outside adding a beautiful backdrop. A wonderful place to relax with some bruschetta, olives and perhaps a chilled glass of Pinot Grigio before sitting down to a delicious meal..........
Craftwood Interiors are delighted to continue to provide Jamie’s Italian with custom made quality fixed seating for their restaurants. Other recently installed projects for Jamie’s Italian include Cambridge, and Covent Garden and Westfield in London.
