July 2010 saw the completion of another Jamie’s Italian ...this time at the Westfield Shopping Centre, London. Westfield is, in itself, a destination and now there is yet another reason to go!
The restaurant was designed by Blacksheep and Jamie’s Italian commissioned Craftwood Interiors to manufacture the banquette seating proposed for the project. Craftwood worked closely with Blacksheep to realise their seating designs and as a new design company to Jamie Oliver, the venue is quite different from previous sites with lots of new and exciting design features, whilst still retaining a clear Jamie’s Italian “feel”.
Jordan Littler, Senior Designer at Blacksheep, commented “Craftwood were a pleasure to work with on this project, providing us with great samples and drawings prior to construction which enabled us to envisage exactly what we were going to get on site. Their professionalism made the entire process run smoothly and we couldn’t have been happier with the finished product.”
There are a variety of zones within the restaurant which all flow neatly together. In the front and rear areas, bespoke stitch fluted back sprung base banquettes have been employed. Solid oak feature rails and chunky tapered solid oak legs add to the appearance of the seating being free-standing.
At the centre of the restaurant booth seating has been utilised to great effect. A stunning blue leather was selected from samples supplied by Craftwood, and the seating backs were deep-buttoned to give an added wow factor to the area. The booths again are on solid oak legs but this time with a dummy plinth set back to make cleaning beneath the booths easier whilst still giving the appearance of being completely free-standing.
All seating is manufactured at Craftwood Interior’s factory to the highest quality with minimal final assembly and installation time on site. This enables a site to be kept as clear as possible for other trades with the seating being one of the very last items fitted on most projects.
Craftwood Interiors are delighted to continue to provide Jamie’s Italian with custom made quality fixed seating for its restaurants, and have since completed another Jamie’s Italian project designed by Blacksheep in Birmingham. With a good number of Jamie’s Italian projects in the pipeline we very much look forward to continue to be involved during 2011.
