This month we thought we’d fill all our online users in about a subject we’re a huge supporter of; environmental sustainability. Whilst taking the environment into consideration during the manufacturing of our products is one of our criteria, it’s something some of our clients aren’t aware of. How our business can become greener is a topic we like to keep on top of.
Since 2008 we have been aiming to decrease our energy output and reduce our carbon footprint. We use sustainable materials with our wood products being sourced from local suppliers, to keep transport to a minimum, and in turn these come from sustainable certified forests. Our waste management policy entails segregation of items so that: leather off-cuts go to recycling, waste wood is separately collected to that of general waste, foam off-cuts are bagged and returned for recycling via our foam suppliers and office waste paper is placed in recycle bins. Our office lighting has been changed to low voltage, low wattage and our close down procedure at the end of every day ensures all electrical appliances are switched off, saving not only on energy but on night time and weekend emissions too.
When the need arises to invest in new equipment environmental factors are key in making a selection.
This means that the bench seating we produce is more environmentally friendly and with each bench seat manufactured we are meeting our goal of reducing Craftwood’s carbon footprint. Visit our bench seats page to find out more about this seating option.
