The Brief

In 2012 Moreno Masey set about designing a new fresh look for GBK Brighton. Having the pioneering tag of the first GBK restaurant to venture out of London the aim was to make sure that this flagship restaurant was brought back to life and could stand out from the crowd in this busy seaside resort.

The Solution

After contacting Craftwood, it was decided that two main internal dining areas would be created, this was cleverly achieved by using a striking “show girl” chain mail partition; this eye catching feature certainly brings the fun and entertaining ethos of Brighton to the forefront of the restaurant. The cosmopolitan vibe created throughout is given an Art Deco edge with hexagon tiles to the floor and bar area as well as low hanging lights.

The dining area banquette seating to the rear of the restaurant has a stitch fluted and contrasting float button back style, this mash up of two classic styles blends favourably and is accentuated by the high backs on the perimeter sections. The light brown leather used in this area contrasts notably well against the weathered timber cladding.

The other seating area at the front of the restaurant uses the same style but instead is upholstered in a bright yellow leather to catch the eye of passer byes through the large glass bifold doors.

Vibrant colours and quirky features throughout create an overriding fun factor to this restaurant! The Banquette seating achieves a perfect balance of offering functionality and comfort in a stylish and creative style.
